Real Madrid’s move for Alphonso Davies ‘has gone cold’

An update on the long-running transfer saga linking Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid has today been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of Relevo, and points towards the likelihood of Davies landing in Spain’s capital this summer as having steadily decreased over the course of recent weeks.

As much comes for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, the stellar form being enjoyed by Ferland Mendy.

Left-back Mendy has continued to prove himself one of Real Madrid’s most consistent performers across the most important stretch of the club’s campaign, with his efforts having long been lauded by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

With the signing of a new central defender being prioritised over reinforcements on the left, Davies’ arrival – which at one point looked a near certainty – is now up in the air.

The Canadian remains highly appreciated by all at Real Madrid, with an agreement on the terms of a contract having been in place between the parties for several months now.

However, Relevo have reiterated that for a transfer to come to fruition this summer, one of two developments would be required:

Favourable sales conditions, or Mendy’s departure.

Though a move for Davies is by no means ruled out, it has in turn ‘gone cold’ for the time being.
