Real Madrid’s Man of the Match dominance continues at the World Cup

The remarkable Man of the Match record being enjoyed by players from La Liga giants Real Madrid at this summer’s World Cup continued late on Tuesday night.

This came as Kylian Mbappé’s dominance on international football’s grandest stage continued.

France were of course back in action late yesterday evening, locking horns with Sweden in a World Cup Last-32 clash.

The aforementioned Mbappé featured from the off in New Jersey, and went on to play a starring role in an eventual 3-0 triumph for Didier Deschamps’ troops.

The 27-year-old was on target to the tune of a brace, to take his record in North America this summer to six goals in just four appearances.

Despite strong competition from teammate Michael Olise, Mbappé, in turn, was named Man of the Match following the full-time whistle.

And as alluded to above, in the process, the prolific frontman kept alive what has been a stellar run of ‘MVP’ prizes for Real Madrid at the 2026 World Cup:
