Real Madrid’s La Liga schedule for 2023-24 season: opening day, El Clásico…

Real Madrid’s schedule for the 2023-24 season has been announced, and they face a tough opening fixture when they take on Athletic Club away from home. The next few games will arguably be less difficult. Almería, Celta Vigo and Getafe will look to take points off Los Blancos after the opening day.

Their first real challenge of the season will be on matchday six, when they face city rivals Atlético Madrid. The first El Clásico of the season is scheduled for 29 October with the return fixture at the Bernabéu on 21 April. That will, as always, be an intriguing game, and a potential title decider at that stage of the season.

Los Blancos have to ensure that next season is nothing like what ensued in 2022-23. They not only lost the La Liga title to Barcelona, but they finished 10 points behind the Catalan club. Such a showing will not be accepted two seasons in a row.

Club president Florentino Pérez has already begun taking steps to bolster the squad, with English star Jude Bellingham arriving in the Spanish capital as well as striker Joselu from Espanyol.
