Real Madrid to scout Girona star during La Liga showdown

The scouting department at Real Madrid are set to keep a close eye on the efforts of a key member of the defensive ranks at Girona, during Saturday’s clash between the two clubs.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have this evening provided an insight into ongoings behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Real brass, it is understood, have long been keeping a close eye on the development of Yan Couto.

The Brazilian, for his part, has enjoyed a stellar campaign to date, playing a key role in Girona’s shock push for La Liga supremacy by way of two goals, and a hefty seven assists.

On the lookout for reinforcements at right-back with a view to next season, the powers that be at Real Madrid will in turn be observing Couto’s performance in Spain’s capital this evening with a watchful eye.

Should the 21-year-old go on to impress, it could prove another decisive step towards Los Blancos formalising their interest in his signature in the summer.

One stumbling block in any potential deal, however, remains the fact that Couto is owned by Premier League champions Manchester City, who just this week announced the impending return of Girona teammate Sávio.
