Real Madrid to receive La Liga trophy behind closed doors at Valdebebas

As reported by Relevo, Real Madrid will receive the La Liga title at their Valdebebas training ground on Sunday behind closed doors. They will receive the Spanish league title without any fans present, before lifting trophy after their home match against Alaves on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos become champions on Saturday, when they beat Cadiz 3-0 before Barcelona were defeated at Girona, making it mathematically impossible for Madrid to be caught at the top of the league. This means the club have secured their record-extending 36th La Liga title.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men return to league action on Saturday, when they travel to Granda, however the club and the Spanish Football Federation have agreed to delay the awarding of the trophy until the following the day. Furthermore, this is because of the fact that Granada could be relegated if they don’t beat Real and therefore the RFEF and club don’t want to be disrespectful.

The Spanish giants will be given their trophy by RFEF president Pedro Rocha at their training ground on Sunday. The players and coaching staff will then celebrate the success with their supporters in the city centre where the club’s titles are traditionally celebrated.

After Sunday’s celebrations in the Spanish capital, Real will officially lift the title at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Tuesday evening.
