Real Madrid star Vinícius avoids punishment for post-Valencia referee comments

Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. will not face a sanction for his comments regarding the performance of the team of officials during his side’s meeting with Valencia on Saturday.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have this evening provided an insight into the situation.

Vinícius, for his part, risked a suspension over the weekend, in speaking to the media on the back of Real Madrid’s trip to the Mestalla.

As much came after the Brazilian made crystal clear where he felt the fault lay, for Los Blancos’ failure to emerge from proceedings with all three points.

After referee Jesús Gil Manzano blew for full-time mere milliseconds before Jude Bellingham nodded home what looked set to prove the game’s winner, teammate Vinícius was drawn on the controversy post-match.

And the 23-year-old went on to reveal his take that Real ‘couldn’t win, because they wouldn’t let us’.

Ensuing reports in the media pointed towards Vinícius facing up to a potential ban, for what was essentially deemed as a direct question of the motives of Gil Manzano and his team of officials.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a welcome relief to all associated with the La Liga leaders to hear that, in fact, this will not prove to be the case.

As per the aforementioned Mundo Deportivo, the winger’s comments have not been included in the Competition Committee’s official match report.

This comes with it having been concluded that Vinícius’ actions were not technically punishable, owing to the fact that he did not specify who his comments were directed towards.

It could therefore be argued that he was referring to Valencia as those who ‘wouldn’t let us’ win.
