Real Madrid star to miss Villarreal clash

La Liga giants Real Madrid will be forced to make do without the contributions of an important member of the club’s defensive ranks in their post-international break return to action.

This comes amid the understanding that Ibrahima Konaté has already been ruled out of contention to face Villarreal.

Stopper Konaté was for his part forced into a premature departure from international duty with France last week. After linking up with his fellow countrymen for a quartet of Nations League fixtures, the summer arrival in Spain’s capital was revealed to have picked up a knee injury.

Konaté, in turn, returned to base at Valdebebas for treatment under the watch of the Real Madrid medical department.

The hope, initially, was that this would culminate in the former Liverpool man being cleared for competitive duties in time to play his part against Villarreal next weekend.

As alluded to above, however, this will in fact not be the case. As per a report from Marca:

‘Konaté will not be fit in time for the match on October 10.’
