A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid rejected the chance to take his talents to the Turkish Super Lig this past summer.
The Blancos star in question? Eduardo Camavinga.
Midfielder Camavinga of course saw his future in the colours of Real Madrid thrown into serious doubt heading into the new season. Owing to both the sudden emergence of Thiago Pitarch, and the arrival of Bernardo Silva, it was suggested that the Frenchman could be sacrificed in a bid to raise funds.
Camavinga endured a difficult individual campaign last time out, drawing widespread criticism for an ongoing lack of development in his game.
Despite these woes, the former Rennes talent remains held in high regard across the continent, with a number of clubs having in turn expressed an interest in his services over the summer.
And as alluded to above, this week, the identity of one such suitor has been revealed. As per a report from transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, cited by Marca:
“During the summer, there was a Turkish club, Galatasaray, that was willing to pay 50 million euros for Camavinga. Galatasaray tried to sign him, but Camavinga rejected it; he wanted to stay at Real Madrid.”
The 23-year-old has since gone on to feature in all four of Real Madrid’s La Liga outings to open the term, two from the off and two from the bench.
