Two leading members of the attacking ranks at La Liga outfit Real Betis were notable absentees from group training with the club’s first-team squad on Friday.
The pair in question? Antony, and Cucho Hernández.
Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis, as a collective, are of course fresh off a week to remember. After first putting Real Madrid to the sword in La Liga last weekend, the Verdiblancos followed up with a Champions League opening day downing of Lille in midweek.
Ahead of a domestic meeting with Villarreal early next week, spirits are therefore understandably high in the camp in Seville.
As alluded to above, though, amid their ongoing preparations for the trip to La Cerámica, Betis have been forced to sweat over the wellbeing of two important players. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Cucho Hernández has been doing specific work inside the facilities, while Antony has not been with the group due to a bout of illness.’
It is added that hopes nevertheless remain high that both attackers will ultimately be given the medical green light in time to face Villarreal.
