Real Madrid marked their return to action earlier this evening, making the trip to La Cartuja for a meeting with Real Betis. José Mourinho’s troops headed into proceedings with a perfect opening to the season behind them, boasting three wins from three in La Liga.
When all was said and done on a night to forget for the visitors, however, they were forced to face up to a damaging defeat. After Troy Parrott emerged from the bench to net a late opener for Betis, Kylian Mbappé’s missed spot-kick in injury time ensured a 1-0 result in Seville.
And yet, as alluded to above, one Real Madrid star was able to come away from the clash with his head held very much high.
Afforded his latest starting berth on Friday fresh off a fine individual opening to the campaign, Arda Güler responded with a stellar display, highlighted by guile, flair and pinpoint creativity.
