Real Madrid star Yan Diomandé has taken to social media, to dedicate his first-ever goal for the club to his late sister, Roxane.
Winger Diomandé of course enjoyed an evening to remember on Saturday, in Real Madrid’s post-international break return to competitive action.
Afforded a starting berth in a La Liga meeting with Villarreal, the Ivorian netted the game’s only goal, courtesy of a fine right-footed strike during the 2nd-half.
After wheeling away in celebration, the emotion was evident all over Diomandé’s face, as the 19-year-old broke down in tears whilst being mobbed by his teammates.
And in the game’s aftermath, Diomandé has provided an insight into precisely why the moment proved such a special one for him. In a post on his official Instagram account, the former RB Leipzig talent wrote:
‘It means much more than words can explain. My first goal in LaLiga is for you, sister. Always in my heart.’
Diomandé’s sister Roxane passed away in 2025, at the age of just 15. The player has spoken openly about how close the pair were prior to her death.
