Real Madrid star confirms plans to retire at the club

Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has this week opened up on his long-term plans in Spain’s capital. This comes by way of confirmation that the Belgian intends to see out his playing days in the colours of Los Blancos.

Goalkeeper Courtois has of course continued to play a starring role in the colours of Real Madrid over the early months of the 2026/27 campaign.

Across the club’s 12 fixtures between La Liga and the Champions League, the experienced shot-stopper has featured from the off in each and every one.

Along the way, Courtois has continued to excel, maintaining his reputation as one of world football’s very best in his role… And this ongoing excellence looks set to give rise to an imminent reward for the former Chelsea man at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Speaking during an exchange with the media in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s victory over RB Leipzig on Thursday, Courtois confirmed:

”I am close to signing a new contract.”

Not only that, but the 34-year-old went on to add:

”I want to retire here at Real Madrid.”
