A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid looks increasingly likely to bring a close to his time with the club in the summer of 2027.
The Blancos star in question? Antonio Rüdiger.
Stopper Rüdiger has played something of a bit-part role in Spain’s capital over the early weeks of the new season. Sitting behind Dean Huijsen and Ibrahima Konaté in the pecking order at the heart of new boss José Mourinho’s backline, the German has been afforded starts in just two of Real Madrid’s eight fixtures in all competitions.
This comes amid growing concerns when it comes to Rüdiger’s waning defensive prowess.
With Éder Militão’s return to fitness expected to culminate in the former Chelsea man being pushed ever further down Mourinho’s priority list, it should in turn come as little surprise to learn of Rüdiger inching towards the exit door at the Santiago Bernabéu.
As confirmed by Blancos insider Jorge C Picon, speaking during an appearance on the YouTube channel of Inaki Angulo on Tuesday, the experienced defender is currently considered more likely to depart than stay put next summer.
Rüdiger’s Real Madrid contract terms are due to expire upon the close of the 2026/27 campaign.
