Real Madrid learn details of season-defining week in April

The entire season of La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid could well hinge on the outcome of their endeavours across a solitary week, in April.

Los Blancos, of course, learned of as much a short time ago, upon the draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League being made official.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops have been afforded a daunting last eight task, in getting the better of reigning title holders, Manchester City.

The first leg of the mouthwatering tie will be played out at the Santiago Bernabéu on April 9th.

A week later, Real Madrid will then make their way to The Etihad, with the club’s European campaign on the line.

And fast forward a mere matter of days, the capital giants could well see their domestic efforts for the season defined, too.

This comes with Ancelotti and co. having been pencilled in for a highly-anticipated showdown with Barcelona in La Liga on the 21st of April.

Though they currently boast a healthy eight-point advantage over the club’s fiercest rivals in the race for Spanish football supremacy, there are three rounds of league fixtures to be played before the next Clásico clash.

This means that, in the case of Real stuttering, and Barcelona continuing to pick up steam, the Bernabéu matchup between the clubs could yet prove a pivotal one in deciding where the 2023/24 La Liga title ends up.

April 16th – 21st, add it to your diaries, Blancos fans.
