Real Madrid: Ins, outs and possible XI for 2022-23 season

Despite the long-awaited arrival of Kylian Mbappé ending in heartbreak, the reigning La Liga and European champions have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Antonio Rüdiger has arrived from Chelsea on a free transfer to offer more defensive variety, while Los Blancos shelled out €80m with a further €20m in add-ons for mercurial midfield talent Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Rumours had previously linked Serge Gnabry and Gabriel Jesus to the Bernabéu, but at the time of writing, Real Madrid haven’t made any attacking signings.

Backup strikers Borja Mayoral and Luka Jović have left, and Mariano Díaz is expected to follow them out of the exit door, leaving Karim Benzema without a deputy heading into the new season.

Ins: Antonio Rüdiger (Chelsea), Aurélien Tchouaméni (Monaco).

Outs: Marcelo, Gareth Bale, Isco, Luka Jović, Takefusa Kubo, Borja Mayoral, Víctor Chust.

Players returning from loan spells: Álvaro Odriozola (Fiorentina), Reinier Jesus (Borussia Dortmund).

Possible starting XI for the 2022-23 season:

Courtois – Carvajal, Militão, Rüdiger, Alaba – Casemiro, Modrić, Kroos – Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinícius Jr.
