Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has this weekend dropped a hint regarding his plans to hang up his boots. This comes as the Portuguese prepares to kickstart another campaign in Saudi football with Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo is of course fresh off bringing a disappointing close to his career on the grandest stage in international football, at this summer’s World Cup.
When it comes to his situation at club level, though, the veteran frontman still has one target firmly in his sights: the 1,000-goal mark.
As things stand, Ronaldo sits on a tally of 976, meaning he needs to find the net 24 more times to hit his target. And if the latest comments on the part of the 41-year-old himself are anything to go by, then Ronaldo appears to be confident in his chances of hitting his mark this season.
Speaking during an interview with Vogue (as cited by Fabizio Romano) this weekend, the Portuguese was drawn on his plans for the future. And Ronaldo went on to admit:
“This may truly be my last year in football. I want to leave an amazing legacy.”
