Real Madrid bid farewell to beloved coaching staff member

A long-time member of the coaching setup at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this weekend brought a close to his time on the books of the capital club.

That’s according to Diario AS, who highlight Luis Llopis as the individual in question.

Llopis, for those not familiar with his name, spent eight years plying his trade as the goalkeeper coach at Valdebebas, spread across three separate stints.

During this time, Los Blancos enjoyed historic success on the continent, racking up five Champions League titles all told.

The 61-year-old, though, was recently made aware that his services would no longer be required in Spain’s capital, with José Mourinho having opted to bring his own trusted shot-stopper coach with him from Benfica.

On Sunday, Llopis was in turn officially sent his way by those in a position of power at the Santiago Bernabéu, leaving behind a memorable, trophy-filled legacy.
