Real Madrid have identified their potential long-term replacement for Antonio Rüdiger

The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have earmarked a former member of the club’s defensive ranks as a possible long-term replacement for Antonio Rüdiger in Spain’s capital.

This comes amid confirmation that those in a position of power at the Santiago Bernabéu are giving serious consideration to the return of Jacobo Ramón.

Youngster Jacobo for his part departed Real Madrid on a permanent basis in the summer of 2025. After making the call to seek out more consistent senior playing time in Italy, the 21-year-old has since gone on to emerge as a leading figure at Cesc Fàbregas’ Como.

After racking up 30 Serie A starts last season, Jacobo has since followed up with a further 11 starts between league and European competition this time round.

And along the way, the Spaniard has excelled at both ends of the pitch, already with three goals and an assist to his name.

Recent days, in turn, have seen speculation mount that Florentino Pérez and co. have already made the definitive call to bring Jacobo back next summer.

And as alluded to above, early this week, a fresh update on the situation has surfaced. The info comes courtesy of Real Madrid insider Jose Felix Diaz, who reports:

‘The Real Madrid board has not yet made a decision regarding the future of the players for whom they hold the option to return. What does seem clear is that Jacobo is seen as a potential replacement for Rüdiger, but a final decision will be made later.’
