An update on the future of Bayern Munich player Alphonso Davies, who is a long-term target for Real Madrid, has been provided today by Bayern Munich Director of Sport Max Eberl.
It has been recently reported that Madrid have accelerated their pursuit of the explosive full-back, although the valuation of the player remains a sticking point between the two clubs. Despite this, Bayern are doing everything in their power to convince the 23-year-old to reject the offer from Los Blancos and to put pen to paper on a new deal.
The La Liga leaders are huge admirers of Davies and view him as the perfect candidate for the left-back position in the summer. However, the Spanish giants are prepared to wait one year if it means they secure the Canadians signature for the best possible price.
The defender’s deal at the Bundesliga holders expires in the summer of 2025 and for that reason Madrid believe they should be able to acquire the player for a significantly reduced price in the upcoming transfer window. Despite this, Bayern are willing to risk the player leaving in 2025 on a free transfer, as they believe he is a vital part of their project and want him to be playing for them next season.
Speaking to Sport Bild, Eberl has confirmed that Davies has a contract offer on the table from Bayern and has dismissed reports suggesting they are in contact with Madrid over a potential deal for the player.
He said: “We sent Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer. At some point in life you have to say yes or no. Real Madrid hasn’t contacted us.”
