Real Madrid close to tying 4th player down to new contract terms

The powers that be at Real Madrid are closing on an agreement with another member of the club’s first-team ranks, over the terms of a new contract.

The subject of contract renewals has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the week to date.

As much comes with the Real brass understood to have found common ground on one-year extensions with no fewer than three members of Carlo Ancelotti’s ranks.

First, and most notably, comes midfield maestro Toni Kroos.

Also primed to put pen to paper on fresh terms through the summer of 2025, though, are experienced defensive pair Nacho, and Lucas Vázquez.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, yet another to have played a prominent role for Los Blancos across the season to date looks set to follow suit in short order, too.

As per a report from Relevo, an agreement over a new long-term deal for Andriy Lunin is closer than ever before.

The Ukrainian’s entourage have been locked in talks with the Santiago Bernabéu board for several weeks now, with the aim of finding an accord to extend his current terms beyond their close in the summer of 2025.

As much, of course, comes amid what has proven something of a breakout season for Lunin in Spain.

It will therefore no doubt come as music to the ears of all associated with Real to hear that ‘the two parties show a total willingness to reach an agreement’.

In fact, word stemming from the boardroom in Madrid points towards talks bearing imminent fruit, providing Carlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff with absolutely crucial long-term depth between the posts, amid the ongoing fitness struggles of no.1 Thibaut Courtois.
