An insight into the reaction of the brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid to the head-turning comments laid out by star frontman Rodrygo regarding his future this week has today been provided.
The name of Brazilian international Rodrygo has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the course of the last 48 hours.
As much comes after the 23-year-old, through a series of interviews, appeared to hint that he was taking into consideration a departure from the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking to DAZN, as cited by The Athletic, for one, Rodrygo had the following to say when drawn on his future:
“Anything can happen. I have a contract here, but the years I’ve been here have been a pleasure for me.”
The attacker’s entourage have since moved to firmly shut down any and all speculation surrounding their client’s situation in Madrid, adamant that his words were misconstrued.
But the damage behind the scenes at Real, it would appear, had been done.
As revealed by Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:
‘Club sources did not appreciate Rodrygo’s words.’
This comes in large part owing to their arrival in such close proximity to this weekend’s Champions League final, an occasion which Carlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff are keen for full attentions to be focused on.
Rodrygo’s untimely distraction, in turn, went down understandably poorly.
