Guido Rodríguez drops Barcelona hint

Comments on the part of Barcelona-linked Real Betis star Guido Rodríguez have turned heads across Spain late on Wednesday.

This comes after the midfielder appeared to confirm that his time on the books of Betis has already come to a close.

Guido’s name has of course long taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona.

As much comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Argentine was locked in advanced negotiations with the Blaugrana over the terms of a pre-contract beginning in the summer.

Guido’s terms at the Estadio Benito Villamarín are due to expire next month, with repeated efforts on the part of the Real Betis brass to find an accord over an extension having come up short.

And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, the 30-year-old has dropped his biggest hint yet that his time in the colours of the Verdiblancos has come to a close.

Speaking during an exchange with the media in his home country, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, Guido repeatedly referred to Manuel Pellegrini’s side as being part of his past:

“I was very happy at Betis. There was a lot of talk, but out of respect for Betis, where I was very happy, I didn’t want to talk too much. Now I’ve just arrived and I’m focused on the family and the national team and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Barcelona, it would appear, have gotten their man.
