Real Madrid announce three end of season departures: Eden Hazard set to leave

On a day of farewells at Real Madrid, perhaps the biggest surprise came last when the Spanish giants announced that Eden Hazard is leaving the club.

Earlier in the day, Madrid confirmed that Marco Asensio will leave the club this summer, and then forward Mariano’s departure was also announced.

Shortly after 8 pm on Saturday, a club statement revealed that Hazard was set to depart. Tomorrow will be Hazard’s last game after he joined from Chelsea in 2019.

Real Madrid statement

“Real Madrid C. F. and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player is released from the club as of 30 June 2023.

“Eden Hazard has been part of our club for four seasons, in which he has won 8 titles: 1 European Cup, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 2 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups.

“Real Madrid would like to express its affection to Eden Hazard and wishes him and all his family the best of luck in this new stage.”

Hazard’s disappointing spell in the Spanish capital is set to come to an end. Injuries and a lack of form saw him struggle for game time under Carlo Ancelotti and he only played 392 minutes for Real Madrid this season.
