New Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho intends to afford a prominent role to an up-and-coming member of the club’s midfield ranks over the course of the season ahead.
The Blancos starlet in question? Thiago Pitarch.
Speculation has long swirled in the media this summer, regarding Pitarch’s future in Spain’s capital. Amid something of a logjam in Real Madrid’s engine room, the 18-year-old was tipped as a potential sacrifice to raise funds.
Despite his tender years, Pitarch showcased glimpses of his remarkable potential last season, en route to 16 appearances between La Liga and the Champions League.
These talents have given rise to inevitable transfer interest from across Spain and beyond, with it at one point having looked highly likely that the midfield dynamo would therefore be on the move before the window slams shut.
As alluded to above, however, this will in fact not prove to be the case.
As per a report from Diario AS, sidelined at present owing to an injury setback, José Mourinho has made a definitive call on Pitarch’s immediate future:
‘Not only will he not leave this summer, but Pitarch will be part of the first team. According to AS, he will be a key player for Mourinho, who played a crucial role in this decision.’
