Real Betis youth player Félix Garreta has emerged from his coma

Some uplifting news regarding the well-being of young defender Félix Garreta this Tuesday afternoon, as Cadena Ser have broken the news that the player has awoken from the coma he had been in since sustaining a head injury at his home last Thursday.

The 20-year-old centre-back, who is on loan at SD Amorebieta from Real Betis, is said to be awake and is able to recognise his loved ones, although no further update on his condition has been shared.

The youngster became a key player for his host club this season, cementing his place in defence for the club in the Segunda División.

He has played 31 games for SD Amorebieta this season, with a tally of four goals and one assist for the club.

It was widely believed that before this accident, Manuel Pellegrini had plans to call the youngster up to Real Betis’ first-team for pre-season training this summer.

Everybody in the Spanish football community will be relieved to hear of this vital step in Félix’s recovery, and everyone will continue to have him in their thoughts as we hope for a speedy and full recovery for the young man.
