A leading member of the attacking ranks at Real Betis is on the verge of a move to La Liga rivals Villarreal.
That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Ayoze Pérez as the player in question.
The name of frontman Pérez has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Spain across much of the summer to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the former Newcastle United man’s contract contains a cut-price release clause set at just €4 million.
The clause at hand attracted interest from one of Spanish football’s leading clubs, in Barcelona, who were for some time tipped as a potential landing spot for Pérez.
In the end, the Blaugrana opted against a move, however, which has since opened the door for other clubs to step in.
And, as alluded to above, this weekend, one such club have reached the point of advanced negotiations with both Real Betis, and the player.
As per a report from the aforementioned Matteo Moretto:
‘Ayoze Pérez is one step away from Villarreal.’
