Real Betis name price as Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso sets sights on Borja Iglesias

The powers that be at Bayer Leverkusen have identified Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias as a potential winter signing.

That’s according to Diario AS, citing ABC de Sevilla, who have on Monday provided an insight into developments behind the scenes at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Aforementioned Bayer Leverkusen, it is understood, are on the hunt for reinforcements up top with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.

This comes after star frontman Victor Boniface was ruled out until April, with a groin injury suffered whilst on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Amid what has proven an underwhelming campaign for the aforementioned Borja Iglesias to date, fellow countryman Xabi Alonso and his staff have in turn identified the 31-year-old as a potential low-cost, short-term replacement.

Leverkusen, flying high atop the Bundesliga table, are keen to bring Iglesias in on loan for the remainder of the term.

And their counterparts in the boardroom at Real Betis do not appear entirely opposed to a deal.

The Verdiblancos do, however, hope to secure some form of fee as part of the transfer.

They have therefore informed the powers that be at the BayArena that Iglesias is available, but only in the case of an option to buy worth a fee in the region of €10 million being included in the operation.
