Real Betis add two new defenders to squad

On Sunday, Marc Bartra and Chadi Riad arrived in the Andalusian city of Seville to sign for Real Betis.

Bartra returns to the club on a free transfer, while Riad joins on loan from Barcelona with an option to buy, report Cadena SER.

Bartra, who had previously terminated his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor, will embark on his second spell as a Betis player.

The Catalan centre-back will sign a contract for two seasons, with the option to extend it to a third. Upon his arrival at San Pablo Airport, Bartra said he was happy to “return home”.

Chadi Riad, the Morocco Under-23 centre-back came through Barcelona’s youth academy, and will join Betis on loan.

The operation includes an option to buy, which would be around €5m. The 20-year-old was chosen by sporting director Ramón Planes, who continues to place his faith in players from La Masia.
