Raphaël Varane sends message of support to former Real Madrid teammate Vinícius

One-time Real Madrid stalwart Raphaël Varane has forwarded a heartfelt message of support to current Blancos star Vinícius Jr.

As much, of course, comes amid what has proven an emotional day to date for the latter.

Whilst speaking in a press conference ahead of Brazil’s friendly meeting with Spain on Tuesday, Vinícius was faced with questions about the racism to which he has been subjected during his time in La Liga.

And, in his response, the 23-year-old’s emotions understandably got the better of him, Vinícius breaking down in a flood of tears whilst admitting that:

“I’ve been watching this for a long time, and every time I feel sadder, I have less and less will to play.

“I’m sorry. I just want to play football, do everything for my club and my family, never see black people suffering. I’ve thought about quitting.”

Messages of support, in turn, have quickly poured in for Vinícius, as fans across the globe move to remind the Brazilian that he maintains the backing of the masses.

And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, such supporters were joined by one of Vini’s former teammates in Madrid.

In a post on his official ‘X’ account, Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane unveiled a photo of Los Blancos’ star attacker, accompanied by the caption:

‘You are powerful. You are special @vinijr

‘Your dreams and inspiration are stronger than any words that can ever be used against you.’
