Reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain will be forced to make do without the services of a leading member of the club’s backline in their upcoming clash with Barcelona.
This comes amid confirmation that Nuno Mendes is primed for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Left-back Mendes – widely considered one of world football’s finest in his role – was introduced off the bench on Saturday, as PSG made the trip to Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
En route to an eventual 3-1 victory, however, the Portuguese international picked up a fitness problem late in the action.
Mendes was in turn put through a round of medical tests and scans back in France’s capital on Sunday morning. And these checks confirmed an injury blow for the 24-year-old.
As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano:
‘Nuno Mendes suffers muscle injury as tests done today have confirmed. The Portuguese left-back will be out against Barcelona on Tuesday, and for several weeks, PSG confirm.’
