Rayo Vallecano picked up an impressive point at Camp Nou on the opening matchday of the new La Liga season. Both sides had chances to win the game but it finished all-square.


Marc-André ter Stegen: 8 – Made a great save to deny Álvaro García in the first half.

Ronald Araújo: 5 – Mediocre game going forward and was beaten by Álvaro on a few occasions.

Andreas Christensen: 6

Eric García: 6

Jordi Alba: 6 – Did not have his usual offensive influence, with the wingers doing most of the attacking creation.

Sergio Busquets: 6.5 – Typically assured display. Sent off late on for an elbow on Radamel Falcao.

Gavi: 5

Pedri: 6 – Added momentum to Barça’s build-up but one of his quieter displays. Hauled off with a suspected injury.

Raphinha: 4.5 – Unproductive La Liga debut. Several poor deliveries when operating on the left flank.

Robert Lewandowski: 5 – Struggled to impose himself on the game.

Ousmane Dembélé: 6 – Failed to convert a good chance in the first half.


Frenkie de Jong: 8 – Was the best player on the pitch in the final half hour, offering a much-needed spark in central build-up.

Ansu Fati: 7 – Bright cameo, more proactive than Raphinha or Dembélé.

Sergi Roberto: 6

Franck Kessié: 6.5

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 6 – Had a shot saved in the late minutes.


Stole Dimitrievski: 8 – Well-deserved clean sheet with many good saves.

Iván Balliu: 6

Florian Lejeune: 7

Alejandro Catena: 7.5 – Had a number of duels with Lewandowski and mostly came away as the winner.

Fran García: 7 – Dealt with Raphinha expertly and linked well with Álvaro.

Pathé Ciss: 8.5 – Won the midfield battle with a superb display.

Unai López: 6

Óscar Trejo: 6.5

Isi Palazón: 7 – Livewire on the right. Breached the Barça backline with a spectacular through-ball, but Rayo failed to convert.

Sergio Camello: 6

Álvaro García: 6 – Impressed with his pace and directness to get on the end of some chances but his decision-making left a lot to be desired.


Radamel Falcao: 6.5 – Was immediately better in linkup than Camello. Put the ball in the back of the net in the dying minutes but was offside.

Óscar Valentín: 6

Salvi: 6

José Pozo: 5.5
