Real Madrid star Yan Diomandé could not help but allow his relief to show after finally notching his first direct goal contribution for the club on Tuesday.

José Mourinho’s troops are currently locked in action on the domestic front, having made the trip to Alicante for a La Liga meeting with Elche.

Winger Diomandé was for his part afforded a starting berth for the evening, featuring from the off on the right flank for the 2nd outing in succession.

And as alluded to above, inside the opening 45 minutes, the Ivorian made his presence very much felt. Slipped in down the right wing, Diomandé slid a perfect ball across the penalty area for Kylian Mbappé to put Real Madrid two goals to the good just beyond the half-hour mark.

At the 7th attempt since his big-money summer arrival, this marked the 19-year-old’s very first goal or assist in the colours of his new club.

After being singled out for criticism over the early weeks of his stint in Spain’s capital, Diomandé, in turn, looked a relieved man after seeing Mbappé’s finish hit the net:
