Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé has this week spoken out in defence of international teammate and attacking partner-in-crime Kylian Mbappé.
This comes fresh off a campaign in which the latter was subjected to heavy and altogether consistent criticism.
Mbappé, on an individual level, shone once more across the length of the 2025/26 term, to the tune of 49 direct goal contributions in 44 appearances.
Real Madrid’s collective struggles, though, culminated in the finger of blame being frequently pointed in the direction of the 27-year-old.
A late-season vacation taken by Mbappé, in fact, gave rise to widespread calls for the attacker to be sold owing to an alleged lack of commitment to the cause in Spain’s capital.
As alluded to above, though, one individual of the opinion that the condemnation of his compatriot was taken a step too far is Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembélé.
Fresh off lifting a 2nd successive Champions League title with Paris Saint-Germain, Dembélé was late this week drawn on Mbappé’s many critics.
And the France international went on to insist:
“There are too many critics towards Kylian. Mbappé is incredible, a top player and a great guy off the pitch. People should not be so aggressive against him.
“They criticise Kylian for anything he does. That’s way too much.”
