On-loan Barcelona pair to be assessed by Xavi in pre-season

Two members of the Barcelona loan army will be afforded the chance to prove themselves as part of the club’s pre-season, it has been revealed.

The pair in question? Álex Valle and Julián Araujo.

Full-backs Valle and Araujo are currently in the midst of respective temporary spells away from Catalunya’s capital.

The former linked up with 2nd tier Levante last summer, with right-back Araujo having remained in La Liga, with former Blaugrana coach García Pimienta’s Las Palmas.

And both, for the most part, have gone on to impress with their loan clubs.

What, then, does the immediate future hold for the two full-backs, beyond the summer?

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, as much looks set to be decided by their respective endeavours upon returning to base in Catalunya.

Both Valle and Araujo are in line to link back up with Xavi’s squad for pre-season training.

And, according to MD, ‘their futures will be decided according to the evolution of the market, and their performances’.

Valle and Araujo are both appreciated by Barcelona headmaster Xavi, meaning it should not be at all ruled out that either could go on to secure a place in the Blaugrana’s first-team ranks for 2024/25.
