La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Saturday released a statement, confirming that star striker Kylian Mbappé is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Frontman Mbappé, for those who may have missed it, sparked widespread concern in Spain’s capital on Friday night. En route to France edging out Türkiye in Zinedine Zidane’s debut fixture as Les Bleus boss, the 27-year-old netted the game’s only goal.
In the process of finding the net, however, Mbappé suffered an injury problem, in his left knee.
On Saturday afternoon, the former Paris Saint-Germain standout therefore returned to base at Valdebebas, to undergo a round of medical scans and tests.
And as alluded to above, the results of as much have since been made public. As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee. His recovery will be monitored.’
