Official: Málaga close signing of free agent midfielder

Newly-promoted Málaga have late this week closed a deal to add to the club’s ranks in the middle of the park for the 2026/27 campaign. This comes amid confirmation that Pablo Martínez has put pen to paper on terms with the Boquerones.

Midfielder Pablo has for his part spent the summer to date searching for a new club. After largely impressing en route to a goal and five assists in La Liga last season, the 28-year-old saw his Levante contract terms expire.

A number of clubs from across the Spanish football landscape, in turn, are understood to have expressed an interest in bringing Pablo in across the window to date.

On the lookout for engine room reinforcements following their top-flight return, the aforementioned Málaga recently opened negotiations with the Spaniard and his entourage.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, the brass at La Rosaleda have officially beaten out the competition to his signature. As per a statement across Málaga’s website and social media platforms:

‘Pablo Martínez Andrés arrives at the Club on a free transfer for the current season (with an option for another one), and has passed the relevant medical examination and signed his new contract at the offices of La Rosaleda.’
