Official | Luis de la Fuente becomes new Spain manager

Luis de la Fuente has been announced as the new manager of the Spain national team.

The former U21 Spain boss has enjoyed success at underage level, winning the U19 and U21 Euros. He has also worked with over 80% of the players in the current national team squad.

De la Fuente replaces Luis Enrique as the manager of La Roja.

The Spanish FA announced the decision to part ways with Luis Enrique earlier on Thursday.

“The RFEF would like to thank Luis Enrique and his entire coaching staff for their work at the helm of the senior national team over the last few years. Both the president, Luis Rubiales, and the sporting director, José Francisco Molina, have informed the coach of the decision taken,” the RFEF said in a statement.

The new head coach will begin his spell in charge of Spain in March in the qualifiers for Euro 2024 in Germany and will take on Norway and Scotland in his first two games. His appointment will be ratified by the RFEF board on Monday.
