Official: Jude Bellingham misses out as Real Madrid name Player of the Month

The winner of the season’s first Player of the Month award at La Liga giants Real Madrid has on Thursday been confirmed. And the prize has not gone the way of the player many expected…

Real Madrid are of course fresh off a stellar opening to the new campaign. Under the watch of new head coach José Mourinho, Los Blancos have racked up three wins from three on the La Liga front.

Along the way, the capital outfit have found the net ten times, whilst conceding just a pair of goals at the other end.

A whole host of Real’s players shone bright on an individual basis in August, from Arda Güler to Kylian Mbappé and beyond. The widespread sentiment across Los Merengues’ fanbase, though, is that Jude Bellingham was their side’s standout performer to open the term.

The Englishman was in turn included on the five-man shortlist for Player of the Month. But as alluded to above, Bellingham has ultimately missed out on the accolade.

Instead, Kylian Mbappé, with four goals in three appearances, including a hat-trick against Real Sociedad, has scooped the trophy:
