Official: Getafe announce return of Premier League striker

La Liga outfit Getafe have on Thursday announced a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks. This comes by way of confirmation that Enes Ünal has taken his talents back to Madrid for the seasons ahead.

The name of frontman Ünal will of course be a familiar one amongst those of a Getafe persuasion. The Turk spent three-and-a-half years plying his trade on the books of the Azulones, between 2020 and 2024.

And these proved to be some of the most productive years of Ünal’s career, giving rise to an impressive haul of 36 goals across 109 appearances all told.

After being rewarded with a Premier League switch to join Bournemouth back in the winter of 2024, however, the 29-year-old saw his goalscoring and prominence alike take something of a nosedive.

Upon being informed that Getafe were working to bring him back to the Estadio Coliseum this summer, Ünal therefore quickly made himself available to his former employers.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, the reunion between the parties has been confirmed. As per a statement across Getafe’s official website and social media platforms:

‘Getafe CF and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement for Enes Ünal ‘s return to the Azulones. The Turkish striker returns to the Coliseum and has signed a three-year contract, until June 2029.’
