Official | Georgi Mamardashvili signs contract extension with Valencia until 2027

Georgi Mamardashvili has signed a contract extension with Valencia until 2027, the club confirmed on Monday.

“Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Georgi Mamardashvili to extend the player’s contract through to June 30th, 2027.

“The 21-year-old, who debuted for the team last season, has played 27 official matches for the club, including the 2021/22 Copa del Rey final.

“Mamardashvili is a full international for Georgia, and has established himself as one of the standout goalkeepers in LaLiga,” Valencia said in an official statement.

The young shot-stopper has been impressive in the opening weeks of the new La Liga campaign. His release clause has been set at €100m.

The Georgian international, 21, had attracted the attention of a number of top clubs, according to Superdeporte.

So far this season he has kept two clean sheets and conceded less than one goal per game (0.8) while averaging three saves per game.

Mamardashvili is a goalkeeper with great agility and the ability to get down low, as well as being very solid at set pieces, in the air and having a great ability in one-on-one situations.

He has room for improvement with his footwork, but it is an aspect that Rino Gattuso is putting a lot of emphasis on to make him a part of the team’s build-up from the back.
