Athletic Club have officially appointed Ernesto Valverde as their new manager.
Valverde, 58, will make a return to coaching after two and a half years away from the game. In his last spell at Barcelona, he won 108 games from a possible 163.
Barcelona sacked Valverde in January 2020 following their Spanish Super Cup semi-final defeat to Atlético Madrid. They were top of La Liga at the time of his sacking under former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Valverde is a popular figure among Athletic fans and takes over from the recently departed Marcelino García Toral at San Mamés.
