La Liga champions Barcelona have on Tuesday made official the latest high-profile addition to the club’s first-team ranks. The player to have put pen to paper on terms with Hansi Flick’s squad? Rodri.
The name of midfielder Rodri has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several weeks now.
After the Camp Nou brass made the call to dip back into the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park owing to Frenkie de Jong’s injury, the former Ballon d’Or winner was quickly identified as a priority target.
Talks over the terms of a transfer, in turn, had since been ongoing between Deco and the board at Premier League heavyweights Manchester City.
A decisive breakthrough was finally reached on Monday, after Barcelona agreed to meet the considerable financial demands laid out by those in a position of power at The Etihad.
And as alluded to above, 24 hours on, Rodri’s Blaugrana switch has been made official. As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
