La Liga champions Barcelona have on Monday announced a fresh departure from the club’s first-team ranks. This comes amid confirmation that Ronald Araújo has taken his talents to England, to link up with Liverpool.
The name of defender Araújo of course suddenly emerged as a prominent one in the headlines surrounding Barcelona late last week. Ahead of a season in which he was expected to push hard for a return to starting duties, word was forthcoming that the Uruguayan had made the call to depart Catalunya’s capital.
After the aforementioned Liverpool made known their interest in his services, Araújo wasted little time in giving his word to the Anfield brass.
And as alluded to above, on Monday, the two clubs have reached a definitive agreement on the terms of a transfer, too.
As per a statement across Barcelona’s official website and social media platforms, the club’s one-time defensive stalwart has joined Liverpool on a season-long loan:
‘Ronald Araujo, loaned to Liverpool FC. FC Barcelona and Liverpool FC have agreed on the loan of Ronald Araujo until 30 June 2027. Best of luck, Ronald!’
