Official: Barcelona announce fresh injury blow

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday confirmed a fresh personnel setback in the club’s squad.

The Blaugrana star set for an incoming spell on the sidelines? Fermín López.

The name of midfielder Fermín has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Spanish Football Federation announced that the Euro 2024 winner had been released from the country’s U21 squad.

As much was attributed to ‘a muscle injury that makes it impossible for him to play in the two matches the national team will play this September.’

Fermín, in turn, had since made his way back to Barcelona, to undergo a round of medical scans to ascertain the extent of his issue.

And, on Wednesday, the Blaugrana themselves have revealed the results of as much.

As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:

‘Tests carried out on Wednesday on the first team player Fermín López showed that he has an injury to his left hamstring. He will be out for approximately three weeks.’
