A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has revealed that he made personal contact with summer signing Dani Olmo, ahead of the Spaniard’s arrival at the club.
Attacking midfielder Olmo is for his part of course fresh off an altogether productive start to life in Barcelona colours.
After at last being registered for La Liga play last week, the 26-year-old has since featured on a pair of occasions, one off the bench, and one from the off.
And, along the way, he has chipped in with a pair of goals.
Not only that, but Olmo has looked completely at home in new boss Hansi Flick’s midfield, adding a new element of guile and technicality to Barca’s ranks through the middle of the park.
Safe to say, then, that if early indications are anything to go by, the former RB Leizpig man’s signing looks a shrewd piece of business on the part of the Blaugrana.
And one individual who appears to have been well aware that this would prove to be the case comes in the form of teammate Pedri.
Speaking in an interview with El Mundo this week, midfielder Pedri was drawn on Olmo’s arrival at the Camp Nou.
And the 21-year-old went on to reveal that, in the thick of the rumours linking his fellow countryman with a return to Barcelona, he made direct contact with Olmo.
“Before his arrival, I wrote to Dani Olmo to come to Barcelona. I wanted to play with him,” Pedri confirmed.
