Official: Barcelona announce contract renewal, and loan exit

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday announced the temporary departure of a member of the club’s defensive ranks.

The player in question? Álex Valle.

The name of stopper Valle positioned itself front and centre in the transfer chatter in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This came amid mounting claims that the 20-year-old – fresh off a season on loan with Levante – had once again been made available for transfer.

Valle failed to convince new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick of his readiness to act as the backup to Alejandro Balde at left-back in his squad, beaten to the role by Gerard Martín.

On Wednesday, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of the youngster’s departure being made official.

As confirmed in a statement across Barca’s website and social media platforms, Valle has extended his contract terms with the club for a further 12 months, through the summer of 2026.

And, on top of as much, the Spaniard has joined Scottish champions Celtic on loan for the campaign ahead.
