Ansu Fati has completed his loan move to Brighton from Barcelona.
Fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Tottenham had both been linked with a move for the Spain international but he joins the Seagulls for the 2023-24 campaign.
With less game time under Xavi at Barcelona, Fati recently decided to leave the reigning La Liga champions to continue his career elsewhere.
Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly been a key factor in the player’s decision to move to the impressive Premier League club, who have continued to back young players in recent seasons.
“We are pleased to confirm the signing of Ansu Fati on a season-long loan from Barcelona,” Brighton wrote in a statement on Friday.
“The 20-year-old made 36 La Liga appearances last season for Barca, as they secured their first title for four years.”
Head coach De Zerbi said, “This is a great deal for all of us. I am sure Ansu will help us to reach a new target and we can help him get back at the level he deserves to be.”
