Mono Burgos to step down from Atlético Madrid coaching role at the end of the season

German ‘Mono’ Burgos has confirmed on Atlético Madrid’s social channels that he will be leaving his role as assistant coach at the end of the season.

The former Atlético goalkeeper has been part of Diego Simeone’s coaching staff since 2011 and feels it’s time to start his own coaching career.

At the end of this season, I will take my first steps as a head coach. I think that with more than 10 years of experience in the first division, I’m fully qualified to manage a team.”
