Miguel Gutiérrez injury update before Girona’s clash with Real Betis

An update on the wellbeing of Girona star Miguel Gutiérrez has today come to the fore online.

Stopper Gutiérrez, for his part, was forced to watch on from the sidelines, as Girona were put to the sword by Getafe in the club’s final outing pre-international break this past weekend.

This came owing to a calf injury, understood to have been suffered against Osasuna on March 9th.

So, what is Gutiérrez’s current status?

An insight into as much was today provided, by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Míchel’s Girona squad were put through their paces at the club’s training ground in Catalunya this morning, with a view to the Blanquivermells’ return to action against Real Betis the weekend after this.

Gutiérrez, a near ever-present in the club’s backline across the season to date, however, remained a notable absentee.

MD point towards the 22-year-old as continuing to deal with considerable pain in his calf, so much so that Gutiérrez is struggling to put any pressure on his foot.

It is added that ‘the first diagnosis indicated that the left-back will be available in about ten days’, a timeline which could see the former Real Madrid talent sneak into contention to face Betis.

As much, however, will be wholly dependent on his recovery, and ensuing return to training over the coming week.
