Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has today provided his response to comparisons with club legend Lionel Messi.
As much, of course, comes amid what has proven the most remarkable of breakout campaigns on the part of the winger.
Still just 16 years of age, Lamine has already established himself as a near ever-present in Barcelona’s starting XI, as well as a regular in the Spanish national team setup.
With the youngster an inverted winger, lining out on the right flank before cutting inside onto his trusty left foot, comparisons with ‘you know who’ have already become a near weekly occurrence.
Playing style aside, though, there is widespread agreement behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital that Lamine, in truth, is the finest attacking talent to have been produced at La Masia since Lionel Messi.
Speaking in an interview with Barcelona’s official website this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his likeness to the Blaugrana’s greatest-ever player was put to the teen himself.
Lamine, however, in a mature response, went on to explain:
“That’s a comparison I leave to them (the media). There will never be another player like Leo Messi.”
